Replacing the Arm Assembly on the B Series Barber Chair
This tutorial will guide you through the steps of replacing an arm on a B-Series Barber chair. Whether you are working with a chair that has or doesn't have an arm pad, this guide covers everything from removing the old arm to reassembling the new one. The process is simple and applicable to all B-Series models.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Tools Needed:
- 7/16” wrench
- 9/16” wrench
- 3/8” Allen wrench
- Optional: Allen wrench (if removing the arm pad)
1. Prepare the Chair
- Gather the Tools: Make sure you have a 7/16” wrench, 9/16” wrench, 3/8” Allen wrench, and possibly an Allen wrench for the arm pad.
- Remove the Arm Pad (Optional): If your arm has a pad that you plan to reuse, locate the screws or bolts securing the pad underneath and remove them before proceeding.
2. Remove the Seat Cushion
- Remove Bolts from Seat Cushion: Use a 7/16” wrench to remove the four bolts securing the seat cushion to the chair. Set the seat cushion aside.
3. Detach the Arm
- Loosen the Nuts: On the back side of each arm, you’ll find nuts and lock washers securing the arm. Use a 9/16” wrench to remove these nuts.
- Remove the Arm Bolts: Using a 3/8” Allen wrench, remove the four bolts that secure the arm to the frame.
- Wiggle and Remove the Arm: Once the bolts are removed, the arm should be free. Gently wiggle it to fully detach it from the frame.
4. Inspect the Assembly
- Check the Arm and Frame: With the arm removed, inspect the attachment points and the frame for any wear or damage. The arm and frame should be in good condition for reassembly.
- Compare Left and Right Arms: In most B-Series chairs, the left and right arms are identical, so reassembly is straightforward.
5. Reassemble the Chair
- Attach the New Arm: To reassemble, simply align the new arm with the four attachment points on the chair's frame. Insert and tighten the bolts and nuts back into place.
- Reinstall the Seat Cushion: Once the arm is securely attached, place the seat cushion back onto the chair and bolt it in place with the 7/16” wrench.
6. Final Check
- Test the Arm: After reassembly, test the arm to ensure it is secure and properly positioned.
- Ensure the Chair Functions Properly: Recline the chair and confirm everything is working as expected.
By following these steps, you'll be able to replace the arm on your B-Series Barber chair quickly and efficiently.
