How to Change or Repair Cartridges on the 570 Faucet

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for changing or repairing cartridges on the 570 faucet, one of our best-selling faucets. If you require replacement cartridges, contact Collins Customer Service with the year of your bowl to ensure compatibility. Note that cartridges were changed in July 2014, and knowing the year of your faucet bowl is critical for selecting the correct cartridge.

Tools Required:

  • Rag

  • Sharp object (e.g., knife or pick)

  • 2.5mm Allen wrench

  • Channel locks

  • Crescent wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions

Preparation:

  1. Protect Your Bowl: Place a rag in your bowl to prevent small pieces from falling into it.

  2. Turn Off Water Supply: Shut off the water supply underneath the faucet.

Disassemble the Faucet:

  1. Remove the Red and Blue Dot:

    • Use a sharp object to carefully pop out the small red and blue dot from the faucet handle. This piece is held in with rubber.

  2. Loosen the Handle Screw:

    • Depending on the model, there may be a small flathead screw or an Allen wrench screw.

    • Use a 2.5mm Allen wrench for models with an Allen screw. Loosen the screw just enough to remove the handle (do not fully remove the screw).

  3. Remove the Escutcheon (Decorative Cover):

    • Cover the escutcheon with a rag to protect it.

    • Use channel locks to gently turn and remove the escutcheon.

  4. Remove the Brass Nut:

    • Use a crescent wrench to loosen and remove the brass nut holding the cartridge in place.

  5. Remove the Cartridge:

    • Lift the cartridge straight up.

    • Note the orientation of the cartridge. Ensure that the notches on the cartridge align with the corresponding tabs in the faucet body.

Reassemble the Faucet:

  1. Install the New Cartridge:

    • Place the new cartridge into the faucet, ensuring proper alignment with the notches and tabs.

  2. Reinstall the Brass Nut:

    • Secure the brass nut snugly using a crescent wrench. Do not overtighten as it seals with a rubber gasket.

  3. Replace the Escutcheon:

    • Hand-tighten the escutcheon back into place.

  4. Reattach the Handle:

    • Slide the handle onto the faucet and tighten the screw with the Allen wrench just enough to hold it securely.

  5. Reinsert the Red and Blue Dot:

    • Place the red dot on the left and the blue dot on the right, ensuring proper orientation.

Final Checks:

  1. Test Alignment:

    • Verify that the handle moves freely and points in the correct direction.

  2. Restore Water Supply:

    • Turn the water back on and test for leaks.

  3. Check Functionality:

    • Ensure the faucet operates correctly with the new cartridge installed.

Important Notes:

  • Always hold the valve body while loosening or tightening components to avoid damaging the faucet.

  • Components should be snug but not overly tightened.
