Collins Barber Chair Basics

In this tutorial, we’ll cover the essential features of the Collins B-series barber chairs, including how to operate the pump, use the footrest, adjust the reclining mechanism, and handle the removable headrest. These chairs come with a 10-year warranty and are designed for comfort and durability in a professional setting.

Steps for Operating the Collins B-Series Barber Chair:

1. Using the Pump:

  • Lock the Chair:
    • Pull up on the treadle to lock the chair in place. This will ensure the chair stays still while you perform your service, preventing the client from moving.
  • Neutral Position:
    • Move the treadle one notch down to reach the neutral position. This allows you to pivot the chair for easier movement and adjustments during the service.
  • Pumping the Chair Up:
    • Move the treadle further down to raise the chair to the desired height.
  • Lowering the Chair:
    • Push the treadle all the way down to lower the chair. Be mindful that pressing harder on the treadle won’t speed up the process and could damage the pump.

2. Footrest Use:

  • Ensure Chair is Lowered:

    • Always lower the chair before a client gets in or out of it to make sure they can safely use the footrest.
  • Adjustable Feet/Casters:

    • The footrest is designed for the client to step on while entering and exiting. The feet of the chair are adjustable, and the model with casters can be fine-tuned to fit different floors and positions.
  • Control Chair During Entry/Exit:

    • When a client is entering or exiting, be sure to have control of the chair to prevent it from rotating.

3. Reclining Mechanism:

  • Gas Cylinder Recline:

    • The reclining mechanism is controlled by a high-pressure gas cylinder. This mechanism is activated by a finger pull, typically located on either side of the chair.
  • Reclining the Chair:

    • Gently pull the finger pull to release the gas cylinder. The chair should recline easily when there is a client seated in it. Do not push harder on the finger pull as it could break the mechanism.
  • Reclining Only with Client in the Chair:

    • To avoid damaging the system, only recline the chair when there is someone in it. The chair will return to its upright position automatically when you're ready to set the client up.

4. Removing the Headrest:

  • Removable Headrest:
    • The headrest on the Collins B-series barber chairs is removable for services that do not require it.
  • Removing the Headrest:
    • The headrest can be removed by pressing the button located on the side. Once removed, you can store it out of the way for services that don’t require it.

Conclusion: The Collins B-series barber chair is equipped with practical features that enhance both the client’s comfort and the barber’s ability to provide services. This tutorial explains how to operate the chair's pump, adjust the footrest, use the reclining mechanism, and remove the headrest. These functions are designed for durability and ease of use in a busy barbering environment.
