Barber Chair Footrest Leveler Adjustment

This guide provides detailed instructions for adjusting the feet on the bottom of barber chair footrests, ensuring stability and functionality for various flooring types. It covers different chair models and scenarios, including using rubber feet or casters, and how to prevent issues like mat damage or instability.

1. Understand the Footrest Feet Types

  1. Rubber Feet (e.g., Model 9000):

    • Designed to make contact with the floor when stepped on, preventing the chair from turning.

  2. Casters (e.g., B-Series Chairs):

    • Allow for easier movement but require holding the chair steady when clients step on the footrest.

2. Adjusting for Flooring Considerations

  1. Mat Flooring:

    • Keep the feet higher to prevent the chair from grabbing or tearing the mat during rotation.

    • Rotate the chair only after raising the height or removing pressure from the mat side.

  2. Tile or Hard Floors:

    • Adjust the feet lower for better stability and to ensure the chair remains stationary when stepped on.

3. Remove and Adjust the Footrest Feet

  1. Locate the footrest feet:

    • Check the distance between the footrest and the floor.

    • Identify which foot needs adjustment.

  2. Remove the foot:

    • Unscrew it from the bottom of the footrest.

    • Note the jam nut on the foot.

  3. Adjust the height:

    • Screw the foot back into the footrest to the desired height.

    • Ensure the height accommodates your flooring type and use case.

4. Secure the Foot

  1. Tighten the jam nut:

    • Use a half-inch wrench to snug the jam nut against the bottom of the footrest.

    • This prevents the foot from loosening during use.

  2. Apply thread-locking adhesive (optional):

    • Use a product like Loctite or Thread Locker for added security.

    • Place one drop on the threads before screwing the foot back in.

5. Test the Adjustments

  1. Check the footrest stability:

    • Ensure the footrest stays in place when stepped on.

    • Confirm the chair does not grab or damage mats.

  2. Adjust further if necessary:

    • Repeat the process to fine-tune the height and stability.

Important Notes:

  • Barber chairs are designed to handle weight on the footrest; regular chairs are not.

  • Always ensure the feet are properly secured to prevent accidents or damage.

  • Adjust the foot height based on client needs and your salon’s flooring type.

Your barber chair footrest is now properly adjusted and ready for use!
